Our Services
Prenatal education private or semi-private sessions
Sessions are tailored to answer your specific questions and concerns. Our approach is to describe what to expect when your baby is born, how newborns typically behave, and to provide strategies that work to establish a positive and fulfilling feeding relationship. With the use of dolls and other props, we strive to teach you how to breastfeed so that you and your baby are comfortable and minimize the awkwardness of handling a delicate newborn. We will also give you the knowledge of how to know your newborn is feeding well such as identifying swallows and assessing if feedings are adequate by tracking diapers.
Telehealth Visits
Prenatal and postpartum sessions may be the best option due to either busy family life or concerns brought on by the Covid 19 pandemic.
Home Visits
Are most often the optimal way to provide care and guidance to new moms learning or perhaps struggling to breastfeed. Appointments are arranged around your baby’s feeding time and eliminate the stress of a car ride or trying to arrive to an appointment on time with a newborn.
What to Expect:
Discussion of your journey and pertinent medical information
Use of a scale to record an accurate naked weight and conduct a weighed feeding
Observation and assistance with a feeding
Guidance for assessing your infants’ behavior and ability to nurse efficiently
Individualized care plan with detailed explanations, instructions and resources
Comprehensive written assessment for your physician/pediatrician
Medical receipt for you to submit for reimbursement to your insurance company
Follow up by phone, text or email
Follow Up Appointments
For those who have ongoing problems that require more need time and assistance follow up appointments are available. They are similar to what you would experience during an initial appointment but are typically shorter and build on your established plan of care.
Insurance
Many insurance companies cover lactation consultations.
We coordinate with The Lactation Network. You can avoid submitting a claim to your insurance and find out if you are covered 100% for at least 6 visits by using The Lactation Network. Use the link below to see if your insurance is in-network with Lactation Network:https://go.lactationnetwork.com/SeacoastLactationServices
If your insurance doesn’t work with Lactation Network, we will provide you with instructions and a proper medical receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Julie Rooney is in-network with Aetna and will bill them directly. If you have Aetna insurance, there is no out of pocket costs for up to 6 visits.
Many employers allow consultations to be paid out of flexible spending and health care saving accounts. We accept HSA and all credit cards.
Consultation fees are due at the time of service. Fees are subject to change. If you are outside of our services area, we may request a travel fee. Cash, checks, Venmo, HCA or FSA and credit cards are accepted.
